Wasn't quite sure where to put this one.
I've received some plug plants that I didn't order. The addie is correct but has the wrong name. I've contacted the supplier who promised to contact me and hasn't. I've 'phoned the only 2 people in the 'phone book with the name on the package and they haven't ordered the plants. Nobody down the street has heard of the name (our postcode is specific to our street). As they're plugs they won't keep in the container for very long. Any ideas?

Cajary - you have done all you can. I would pot them up, and let the company pick them up from you if it wants too.

I suspect the plugs cost very little to the company, and I think that they regularly have to replace a certain percentage - which is all included in the price. Some time ago my neighbour ordered a number of different Lavenders. When the arrived they were mostly dead - I suspect that they got caught up in the post somehow. The company replaced them without any question, and without any evidence that the plants were dead. I don't think its a big deal to the company.

    Hi cajary,

I think you have already done more than would be expected of you.

If the plants are ones that you can use then pot them up. Although you don't have to do anything you can send the suppliers an email telling them that you have done so in order to save them from dying and that if they wish to have them back they should pick them up within 7 days and reimburse the nominal sum of ...... to cover your cost of making sure that they survive.

Under the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act 1971 (as amended) you are entitled to keep them as an unconditional gift without having to do anything. Before November 2000 you would have been required to either notify them to come and pick them up within 30 days or not notify them and wait 6 months before they became yours. Even then you would have been allowed to charge for looking after perishable goods.

    Enjoy your free gift :gnthb:.

By the way, what are they?

I wish a company would send me plants I didn't order!

You've done what you can, the company doesn't sound interested. Keep them.

I guess the correct recipient will soon get in touch with the company and ask where their plants are and they will get sent out to the proper address. If you weren't a gardener they would have died by now anyway!

    .

    Get them potted on Quick!

It would cost them more in postage than they are worth to send them back and they would probable dump them as unsaleable as well!

These companies are geared up to send plants out, not receive them, so enjoy the freebie!

    Cheers!

Thanks for the advice, guys.:) I felt a bit guilty 'cause some poor so and so is waiting for their plants and the season is advancing.
Shiney, they are hanging Begonias, assorted colours, 42 of them. I can't use all of them. If it's any help, P.M. me your addy and I'll send the rest up to you. They look very healthy another couple of days won't hurt them.

Thanks for the replies. :) I actually found the owner. I asked the postman. Why didn't I think of that:dh:
She lives in the local Old peoples Home (probably non PC that).:skp:
She's now got her plants. An 8'x4' balcony to put 42 plants in.
I've ordered from the same company as her. I guess there was a mix up in the addies. Thanks again.
