lovely day today ,i took my 7 yr old grandaughter to the park and the swings , as her mother was away shopping. on return from the park we went into the back garden for a seat in the sun. she started by saying "i have a lot of questions to ask you"
she started off asking "what happened to the dinosaurs" after an hour trying to explain about the ice age and global change she then asked me umpteen questions
who invented colour? Who were Cave Men And Women :scratch:how did they build their caves, what did they eat and how did they cook it. what clothes they wore and what were they made of. after about 2 hours she dropped the bomb shell
"who were the first people in the world"? i told her it was Adam and Eve and they had two sons Cain and Abel. she looked at me for a few minutes and then she said " but how could other people be born in their mums tummies":(. i thought for a minute and said "oh God came along and made more women":flag:it was the first thing i could think of and a quick get out. it was tea time. THANK GOD. music

Excellent questions :gnthb:. I'll vote for her as Prime Minister :hehe:.

It's a tough time answering questions from young kids as you don't know how understandable a detailed answer will be (if you can think of an answer :dh:) and there are some questions you don't really want to answer.

The brightest kid's question I have come across was when I was working as a hairdresser. It came from a boy who wasn't quite four years old and, as I had been cutting his hair since he was 18 months old, I knew that he was intelligent and thoughtful. So I always tried to answer his questions carefully.

We used to keep our hairdressing equipment in jars filled with a special antiseptic liquid (it didn't adversely affect metal tools) and one day he asked me what that the blue liquid (his words) in the jar was.

The best way to answer his questions was usually to tell the truth so I simply said that it killed any germs that were on the things I put in there - whilst frantically trying to think of how I would explain what germs were when he asked the inevitable question .

There was the usual pause whilst he mulled it over in his mind (I usually managed to prepare an answer during this period) and then he came out with his question. "How do you know that it kills the germs as they are much too small to see?"

Yes, kids do ask fantastic questions but this one from my daughter when she was about 8 just amazed me.
She asked why I'd never got married.
I was a bit stunned but said that I was married.
She asked - who are you married to.
    I said - Daddy.
She said - Oh don't be silly. You can't be married to Daddy. He's one of the family.

Hi Alice . a number of years ago i was working in Holland on a contract , when the three kids were young . i was away for about three months. i returned home and it transpired that they had all been sleeping in the one room when i was away.
the first night home my wife and i put them all into their own rooms/beds.
i went to check on them later, the first room was empty, the second room was empty,
they were all in the third room (PLANNING HOW TO GET DAD BACK TO HOLLAND ):hehe:
    POOR DAD :( music..
