    ...Cornus.

Back in February I noticed a clump around the corner in a car park had been cut back due to it growing over into several parking spaces and the chopped off branches and bits had been left in a heap.

When passing, I picked up a couple of pieces and more as a joke than anything else, stuck them into a bare corner of my (damp and boggy) border.

They've only gone and rooted, with fresh growth appearing! I'm delighted, especially as they're the yellow bark variety and I went out and bought a red bark variety for the same area. So, I now have two free plants:)

Hi Aaron, it's good to get things for free, isn't it? We've got a contorted willow that I grew from a cutting brought back from a friend's house in Holland some years ago.

A lower branch was getting in the way when I wanted to doing anything around the henhouse so I chopped it off and cut it into several pieces. I just dumped them in a tin can of water a few days ago and now they're all sprouting.

    Salix babalonica pekinensis 'Tortuosa' anyone?!
