Rather than clutter the board with a series of unrelated, simple questions, I thought Id group them in one thread, if that's ok?
(Vbulletin enables tagging, but I cant find them here or Id tag the thread for searches.)

    1.
Should I be removing the cloches on my beans during this hot weather?
Id replace them in the evening.

    2.
Is it too late to direct sow field and Himalayan poppies? Should I stick the seeds in the freezer for a week first? They've been in a drawer.

    3.
The miniature daffodils I bought for Mother's Day are dying back now, should I tell my dearest mother to plant them into her garden or would they be better in a pot? Or should she chuck them?

    4.
I divided peonies maybe 3 years ago. The parent plant has massive red buds on it already and the bit I hacked off is blind- again. I fed, mulched, watered and protected it very carefully - why no flower buds?

    5.
Will a clematis montana grow up a large, mature cherry or will the ground have been stripped of nutrients? Will the shade be too much for it?

    6.
What is eating monkey nuts in the garden? Im regularly finding chewed empty peanut cases all over the garden- is this likely to be mice, squirrels or birds? All of which I have.

    Thanks GC.

    Yup, I reckon.

I would plant them. Particularly if they are a Species type - if so they'll seed & spread and their bulbs will be so small that planting them out individually won't really be an option

If she wants to keep them in a pot for next year feed them with a phosphate rich liquid feed to build up bulb and flower for next year.

They're fussy :( But 3 years is plenty of time. Sorry, dunno. But they are fussy ...

I reckon that Montana is a thug, so it should be fine.

I personally wouldn't put Montana anywhere near your cherry - as Kristen said it's a thug and I think it would end up damaging it.

Yeah, there is that, depends whether the Cherry is on the way out I suppose. I;'ve only grown them over a barn ... only takes a couple of years! (slight exaggeration, but not much!)

Thanks as always guys, I may try another less vigorous clematis then.

Im looking to create more spring colour in the garden. The primulas were very pretty, but I wasnt in the country when I should have been planting tulips last autumn.

Ive been looking at the 'what's hot in March/ April' threads rather wistfully.

On the peony, guessing its the herbaceous kind, its said they need to be planted fairly deep or they wont flower.
Not something I've real experience of, so just quoting something I read, but it might help.

It's a bit early yet for the peonies to flower, give them another month and keep everything crossed.

        1. Yes
        2. Poppies go more on disturbed ground than temperature.
        6. Monkeys ?

Ok, Ive definitely decided against the cl. montana in the cherry. Im considering an armandii?

The miniature daffs are now in a pot in the cold frame having been giving a good feed.
        (thanks Kristen!)

JWK- The peonies are still a bit rubbish, I'll post a pic tomorrow.

My runners are looking great, Ive got the fleece out to coddle them tonight.

However under their cloches my broad beans have grown large, leggy and are unable to support their own weight. Ive tied them in gently but they are still inclined to flop.

Zigs- Ive dug over some bare ground and broadcast the poppies. Im not holding my breath!

Often a problem in urban areas. My daughter stopped eating brown sauce when she noticed Tamarinds are in the ingredients.

Melinda, if your peonies are not flowering, check you've not planted them too deeply. People used to say that peonies sulked if moved - it's usually when they are planted too deep.
