your peony thing - Its a bit of a lottery that moved peonies flower at all. I divided one three years ago but this year it has budded - not many though but at least its happening and yes I did plant a little bit deeper than the original ground line. good luck with them.

I've got 9 sets of Peonies, one being 25 years old but has been moved at least 4 times until my wife decided it was in the right place. On each move it flowered, disproving, in my opinion, the story about them not liking being moved. :D

This year they've all budded up nicely and should bloom in the next 3 - 4 weeks. I do feed mine weekly with Miracle Grow as Peonies are heavy feeders. Try feeding and see if that makes a difference, Melinda:thumbsup:

I had a chuckle about the planting deep, don't plant them too deep argument:heehee::loll: I must admit, in my sandy soil, all the peonies are only planted shallowly and it definitely hasn't affected their flowering ability.:hapfeet:

We had a dozen or two herbaceous Peonies in a bed that we wanted to grass over. I dug them up in the Spring as they were coming into leaf (probably not the best time), small bits were put into pots in a nursery area for the year, bigger bits were unceremoniously split into decent sized bits and chucked into a new home, and all flowered the following year - we've got loads now! I had a job planting the clumps as deeply as they were before, it has bothered me a bit that they stick out of the ground, but maybe that IS the answer ?

It has red swellings in the centre of its leaf clusters. It had them last year but no flowers.

Maybe I'll mess about with planting levels in the autumn. I dont feed either of them beyond FB&B in the spring and a mulching with garden compost.
