    Hello forum
I am martin,i live near bristol and i have just started a veg patch down my gf's stables,i have never grown anything before,so i though i would seek advice from a good forum.
So far i have spuds in tubs, which are shooting, and i have cauli, beets, turnips, parsnips, leeks, carrots, and a few others in the patch,we dug the patch over first several times, but didnt add any fertilizer, which i think could be a mistake. We planted then about 12 days ago,and i can see some little shoots, very small at the moment.Should we add anything to the soil,or what would you suggest we feed them with?

    Looking forward to all feedback.
    Martin

Hi Martin, welcome to Gardeners Corner. If you haven't given your veg patch a feed before you planted anything don't worry. You can give it a dressing of general fertiliser [Growmore] and then you'd have to water it in because of the present dry weather or if you feel energetic enough you can give it a soluble feed like Miracle Gro for a fast feed.

Hello martin and welcome to the forum. It's good advice from Armandii. Have you used any of the stable's manure yet?

Thanks for the replies,i havent been able to use the stables manure because of something she has sprayed onto the fields.

    ARMANDII
I have been watering them in the eve just as sun is going down.As regards to the fertiliser is there one you can spray on?or do they have to be applied into the soil, dug in as to say?and is there a specific type i should look for that is specifically designed for veg,or is either of the two you suggested ok?
Regards the spuds,my boss (keen gardener) says that they are shooying to soon, and that i should cover then with more soil?I know i will have to cover them if frost seems possible.

thanks for the replies, and its good to be on the forum.

    Martin
