    Hi

I am having trouble with my garden. If i could upload a pdf file about 5mb, (with photos and text) then you will have a clear idea of the trouble i'm having.

Is there anyway i can upload a large pdf on this forum?

    Thanks

I'm pretty certain you'll only be able to achieve this by uploading image files to the site so you would need to either convert your pdf file to a series of suitably sized images using free online services provided by the likes of http://www.zamzar.com which could then be posted on an image hosting site/attached, or insert a link to your pdf file in a post after you've uploaded that pdf to a free pdf hosting site such as http://freepdfhosting.com

I've not actually done it, just looked at how to do this sort of thing in the past and can't vouch for either site. I always set up a throwaway email for any services where I need to provide an address for a file to be sent to my inbox.

Some one else have a more elegant solution.

Hi RJ If you click on the FAQ located at the top of the Home page and look under Attachments and Images that might contain some information that is useful to you:)

As the max size for a GC .pdf attachment is only 19.5 kb, and RJF wants to upload a .pdf file of approx 5mb I thought conversion to a series of .jpg or uploading that 5 mb .pdf to a free hosting site that could have a link posted to it from here were the only options. (unless of course it's split into numerous <19.5kb files).

Thanks for all your responses. Especially Scrungee as the 'Free-PDF-hosting' link was exactly what I needed. Now that I know I can do it, I am currently making the PDF file and will need to take photos of my garden tomorrow to finalise it. The file will be roughly 1MB and will be easily accessible by internet address. I will post it in the main gardening discussion group when it's ready. Then hopefully someone can help me devise a solution to my ever increasing garden problem. Thanks again everyone.

Another way of being able to upload larger than 19.5kb pdf (and other sorts of other) files and then post links, could be to use Google Sites and upload there (really must continue work on my own Google Sites website when the growing season slows down). pdf files - Google Sites Help

FastStone Photo Resizer - Powerful Image Converter/Resizer

Photo Resizer allows you to place a large number of photos into the folder and resize to jpeg etc. and can reduce the size down to v. small files.

That should allow submission and they, if set correctly, allow the thumbprint to be expanded on demand.
    It's also free. :dbgrtmb:
