Did that Ukrainian suggest rotating them through 90 degrees to make things a little easier?

Hello all, I need some help to refurbish a set of French doors.

As you can see they are quite narrow and open out onto a small terrace.

I used the hot air gun to get off most of the horrible old varnish. It was a peculiar orange colour and was very weathered. Ive sanded it down going through the grades of glass paper.

It took forever to sand the old varnish off and I think the doors are possibly some kind of hardwood? Ive little bit of sanding before (boat repairs!) and this was much tougher to sand down.

So what do I need to do next? Just a stain or varnish too?
Or should I give sanding another go and try to even out the colour?

Im rubbish with colour as evidenced by my 'what colour should I paint my wall thread!' :WINK1: so any advice would be appreciated!
