Living on an island that gets more than it's fair share of rain usually, for the last two and half months we've had none to speak of.

I never thought I would say this but I'm getting fed up with wall to wall sunshine........yes, you did hear me right. I want it to rain please!!! Just want everything freshened up and watered. My car is covered in dust that is blown from the unmade road at the back of my house. Wash it I hear you say. No point, it will be covered again the next day. I'm even having to water, the still young trees, that I planted three years ago.

Is anyone on GC any good at rain dancing. :WINK1: Please, please, please!! :)

I seem to remember thinking the same early last summer, no rain, garden was like a desert. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come.

You have to wait until they start playing cricket. Then the rain will come down.

I'll get me tools out, that'll normally do it.:yess:

Had a downpour in Dorset a few days back, first for ages. It half filled the bowser:thumbsup:

It's strange isn't it! I'm in Oldham (nr Manchester) and we're reknowned for it being ridiculously rainy, yet I've almost forgotten what rain is like!

I'm not ready to complain yet though - I'm loving the sunshine.

That might help Ziggy. I think we can blame my son for selling his motorbike a couple of months ago, a fair weather rider, if he mentioned he was going to go out on it, the black clouds would loom and then they'd open just after he got far enough away from home to give him a soaking. Since the bikes gone it's been dry. :heehee:

Hi Sheal, we are desperate for rain here too. I have been pulling out weeds and forgetmenots today and the soil was like concrete! My water butt is about empty - I never thought I would be praying for rain:hapfeet: (that's my rain dance for you)

I'm really enjoying the sunshine but i really want some decent rain now. The freshness of spring, which I love, is wearing off fast and needs moisture to keep it going.

Also, it's going to be really hard to establish annual seeds and plants which I would normally do this month, without a lot of extra watering. And i'm on a meter.

Also, it's scary - what if we don't have a wet July/August? My garden will be a desert by then and I'll be sooo, soooo upset. It will look terrible and a lot of plants will die.

Farmers are going to struggle to produce decent crops this year in the event of continued poor rainfall. So will I, there's very little stored water at my allotment and no tap.

Would love some rain please; pretty please lol, parts of the garden are like dust and the grass is going brown already. Just one 20 min shower here in months, although it has forecast rain in some form over the next 3 or 4 days....I'm not holding my breath though, wouldn't be surprised if the days pass with not a drop.

Hmmm not sure about this, am really liking this lovely sunny weather, dogs in the garden, nice long walks, no mud, I suppose a little bit of overnight rain would be nice so I'll just do a little rain dance!!!! :dancy:
