The worlds Smelliest flower is set to bloom for the first time in Scotland..
The Titan arum- also known as the Corpse flower for its rotting flesh stink-rarely flowers in the wild, let alone in captivity..
Staff at the Royal Botanic Gardens greenhouse in Edinburgh said it is set to flower in a matter of weeks after careful tending. It only comes to its peak for one day.:scratch:.

I Dont Think I Will Be Rushing To Purchase One Of These Plants :parsnip:

This could probably give it a run for its' money, music. Dracuncula vulgaris.

In March 1998 I was working on a site in Wimbledon and noticed some shoots coming up near the foot of a scaffold. Intrigued by the snakeskin pattern on them I dug up a few, took them home and planted them in a border near the conservatory door. thinking they've got two chances.

I was really pleased to discover that the shoots were a type of arum lily and was looking forward to seeing them flower... until that is, they opened. What a stink!... Imagine a bucket full of dirty wet rags... and every bluebottle for miles came to pay a visit. It was like a Biblical plague.
What's more, although I yanked them out, and even dug out what roots I could find, they still keep appearing each year. Fortunately I discovered in the second year that if I watered into the spathe and washed away any pollen it got rid of the smell, only now they come up blind ( which is ok as the foliage is still architectural ).

Don't show that to Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall or it will end up on a menu somewhere.
