I have one of those blue plastic barrels to take down to our allotment plot and it will be placed somewhere where I would rather it blended in so I want to paint it. Does anyone have any idea what type of paint would be best to use for this job?

    Thank you.

    Steve...:)

I took a wire brush & then a course sandpaper to mine & roughed it up all over the outside to get a good "key" to the surface for the paint & then painted it with ordinary exterior gloss paint Steve.. Acouple of coats took out the marks from roughing pretty much, but it is only a butt.. Starting to get a bit tatty now 11yrs down the line, but the bush in front has grown up now so don't see it really now.. :WINK1: I did it like tree camo of course... :heehee: :sunny:

try some hammerite. or buy some plastic paint. well paint expecially for plastic. you can get latex paint which is purfect. if useing an oil based paint, the oil in the paint will just damage the barrel and eventually flake off.
also screw fix do a spray paint for plastic objects. think its called Plasti-cote.

Acrylic will stick to plastic like clay to a shovel, but it isn't the cheapest paint to buy.
We bought some big cheap plastic planters many moons ago and the missus did a great job of making them look like aged terracotta using acrylics ~ fooled everyone into thinking they were real pottery. They still look as good as they did the day she painted them.
