i've spent the whole day, in between showers, painting some of my fences with 24 litres of green Cuprinol fence treatment and ended up looking :D I started off well but after crawling in between the fence and 30 years old shrubs, stretching into impossible places, getting poked and scratched by branches, I got tired to the point where I was painting myself rather than the fence. I took a break, had a cup of tea, cleaned myself up and started again, and in 20 minutes was just as :D as before.

I got the job done, and it looks really good, but I ended up looking like a Sniper going out into the jungle for combat duty because I was :D again.

Does anyone else have the same problem when painting fences????.

Rather than struggle with shrubs, pass a good length of rope between shrub and fence, pull away from fence a few inches. Anchor rope, then paint away to your heart content. No more :D but plenty of:hapfeet::yahoo::stirpot:

:D You'll be turnig into the Jolly Green Giant then Armandii :D

I'm just covered in white paint and mud today, nearly finished renovating the Pill Box. Just need the door & frame to dry out so I can put cuprinol on & then finish the painting.

          I'm only 5' 7", Ziggy, but I'm usually jolly, and I was green today:D:thumbsup:

I'm glad there are two others who were covered in paint today, makes me feel less foolish and in good company:D:D:D:D:D

Daitheplant, now you tell me!!!!:heehee::heehee::heehee: Actually, I don't think the method would have worked so well in my garden as my shrubs are pretty big, dense, very close together and also very close to the fence.:help::D

Thanks ArmandII for this one now you have reminded me about painting not only the back garden fence but front too, it's a horrible shade of David Dickinson at present (previous tennents choice) I don't know where to start or best paint to use all I know is I don't like David Dickinson :help:
Being as Mr GCK is not into the growing side of things me thinks it it best for him to take on
              :heehee:

Whoa! GCQ- those are some very orange fences! The cast of Jersey Shore would give David Dickinson and your fence a run for their money!

You could try a soft, pale green - an exterior paint rather than a wood stain. The colours are stronger.

I used Cuprinol Green paint, GCQ, for the fence which came in 6 litre buckets at a discount store in Shrewsbury [Charlies] on special offer, so I bought 30 litres. It went over a faded orangey brown colour and actually looks pretty good. It's a semi-dark green and merges well with the shrubs. Poor old Mr GCK, don't tell him it's my fault he's been nominated to paint the fence.:heehee::heehee::loll:

I've got a spray, John, and I did consider using it but after a quick trial exploration into the area between the fences and the shrubs decided I just didn't have the room to maneouvre the spray lance. I'm just glad I wasn't being videoed while scrabbling, squeezing, crawling. getting scratched, poked in some very private places and jabbed in the back.:WINK1::rolleyespink: The playback of the soundtrack of the noises I was making wouldn't have been fit for sensitive souls. Thanks for the Fence pain funny:D

I think you meant the Jersey Boys Melinda and yes they were orange lol Mr GCK took me to see them for my birthday last year. No you did mean Jersey shores :o i saw it last night on the telly lol

Thinking of taking Mr GCK to a DIY store this weekend maybe and encourage him to choose a nice colour that would look good painted by his own fair hands while I of course provide copious amounts of tea an lots of praise for his efforts
