:cry3:i feel that i am neglecting the OH, i get up early 6.30 am so i can just nip out and do a bit in the garden and before i know it's 3.30 and the OH is saying if you dont come in now for a shower and eat you will be late for work!

I work shifts so the next day i am comming home from work around 3,30 and say i am just going to check the garden and water the pots and the next thing i know the OH is saying can you really see what you are doing now dear ( The solar lights need replacing must add this to things to get list ) and are you comming in to eat and have a shower any time soon:fingerdrum:

i think i should get him to join me out there so he doesnt feel so neglected :heehee:

My mum used to have the same problem with my dad. It wasn't gardening though. He'd be working down in his shed. Electricity to the shed was via an overhead cable, the switch was in the kitchen.

If bellowing down the garden didn't work, she'd flip the switch a couple of times. The air would be blue when he turned up, complaining because he was working on the lathe! Oops! :)

Well is he not willing to help you? Gardening seems like a great thing to do as a couple :(

If he really wants attention he should join you in the garden.

If not then that,s his problem:WINK1:

I used to have a similar problem with Mr. F'smum in his shed, then, whilst he was on one of his trips to The States, I accepted a 'no longer needed' baby alarm - one of those 'posh' ones where you can talk to the baby without having to leave your armchair - one 'end' I had in the kitchen, the other I put in his workshop, well out of the way so that it wouldn't get knocked over. So there he was, 'working' away when suddenly this dis-embodied voice comes to him from out of a pile of woodworking magazines!

30 years of marriage and I'd never realised he was a world champion 20m runner :heehee:

Well all couples need to have separate parts of their lives - I believe having different hobbies, interests and even some friends is part of what makes a relationship successful.

You'd probably run out of things to talk about pretty quickly if you did everything together! I'm quite amazed that there are some couples who work together, live together and just do everything together, I could NEVER do that!

As long as you're making time for some quality time together it's fine. Do you still go out on dates and the like?

I certainly agree with that :dbgrtmb: :love30:

After almost 50 years very happily married we still have our own hobbies and interests. Gardening is one of the few things we do together. Most weekdays, especially the evenings, we are out and about pursuing our own interests and weekends we keep for us to do things together - but not every weekend :heehee:

My other half and I have absolutely nothing in common apart from our children. We've managed to get through 37 years of marriage together though!

Today he took the day off and we went out for a pub lunch in a pretty part of the island. Romance still has a few sparks in it! :heehee:

My wife thinks I'm nuts when it comes to gardening; in a good way of course....lol

She's coming round to liking it a little though; she enjoys the produce when it's grown, we've just had our first new potatoes and guess who dug them up????

That said we do have some common interests too and we are blissfully happy, got married last October after being together for 4 years, we have a 2 year old son together and on Monday night she gave birth to our second (and final ha ha) son. So things could not be any better....HAPPY DAYS....
