Maywater has come to Lyme Bay, the agal bloom that happens when the sun feeds all the plankton.

It makes fishing pretty pants from the beach, the Mackerell don't like it in their gills, so stay further out. I gave up fishing from the beach & tried off the pier, caught this little beauty.

Rockling, a member of the Cod family, far too sweet to eat, with their sweet little faces & little fat bellies. Safely returned :dbgrtmb:

So I got to thinking, time to get on a boat & get a bit further out.

We are now booked on Silver Streak, out of Lyme Regis tomorow afternoon:dbgrtmb:

Mad panic to get all the rods, tackle, baits & weights sorted out in the morning & then eat enough walking stick cabbage to sustain us but i'm sure i'll get it together.

Oddest thing is that the wife has come down to go out with us:runhills:

    She thinks we're going fishing:mute::WINK1:

Good luck with the boat fishing, Ziggy. I wouldn't mind going with you, except that I get sea-sick in the bath watching my little yellow duck bobbing up and down:eeew:

I would be of some use though, chucking up over the side of the boat to provide the bait attraction.:D:yummy:

Nothing like a good bit of rubby dubby to atract the fish:D

Only got sea sick once, mind you, the boat was pitching at 45 degrees. Felt terrible, but was determined to keep fishing. Had a good day, but still felt ill when I got back on dry land.

Hoping to fish for a few Cephalapods, that would be nice, apart from the ink, and the fact that they turn red when they are cross.

Well, despite that fact that I'm a Landlubber, my life long mate and I are off to America next year to achieve a life long ambition. We're going after Tarpon and Bonefish. It's something we've talked about for years, while fishing and in the early hours of the morning while "trying to solve the world's problems". over a glass of Whiskey. Anyway, he's got permission from his "Boss, she who must be obeyed":love30::love30:, so it's on!!!:hapfeet::yahoo:

I also want a go on one of those "Marsh boats" and have a look at the 'gators:rolleyespink::D

Well, it was a nice enough day for it, bit of a wind but not too cold.

The water has cleared out now. Could see the bottom from the harbour.

Even the Mrs cheered up briefley:DOH:

It was the first time we've fished from The Silver Streak, nice boat & only us 3 on it:thumbsup:

Didn't go too far out as it was only a 3 hour trip.

Mind you, the first 2 hours were pants, apart from loosing a couple of Mackerell there was nothing about.

We moved on to fish some rougher ground, thats when the action started.

Daughter Willow caught the first Bass, not only of the trip but of the season:love30::dbgrtmb:
I caught Mackerell, Pollack and, 2 firsts for me, Herring and Launce:thumbsup:

Mrs sulked all the way home because she only caught a little Gurnard.

I think thats just the Launce at the bottom throwing the rest out of perspective Lad, im not used to seeing one that big either. They are all legal, the skipper doesn't want to get his boat confiscated.

ziggy, you've disappointed me! I thought you went out in a small boat and that this was you I photographed as the sun was rising this time last year.

Sitting all day in wet shoes and socks wouldn't appeal to me! :rolleyespink:

Suprisingly not. Only a little one, probably hadn't learned how to yet.

Gurnard is from an old French word for Grunter.

Shiney, if I knew where the roof straps were I would take the Kayaks down. Been missing since I scrapped the old car, doesn't bode well.

When I was B&B'ing at The Old Ship Aground on the harbour at Minehead, I got up early for an hour or so's fishing off the harbour wall before before breakast and starting catching red gurnard, so I was ready with my mobile and managed to get Mrs Scrungee (still in bed back at the pub) on the phone in time for the next gurnard to grunt at her. She declined my invitation to get uip and join me so she could continue her conversation with the fish.

That nearly beats me talking to my chicken on the phone when Mrs thought it was ill.

The lads on site thought that highly amusing.
