I have a very large wicker laundry basket, the type with big handles on each end.
I have just one problem, once it is filled and planted it will have to stay where I fill it.
Unless I put it on some sort of substantial stand.
I was thinking of putting it on the ground,
unless I put it on some sort of substantial stand, but I am going to treat it like a hanging basket and have some trailers over the edge, but I am not sure what plants other than trailers that I should put in it, but I am open to suggestions, because I have to go and buy them.
I know one thing it is going to take a lot of plants.
Hopefully the outcome will be something special.
    Any ideas folks.

Just a bit of an idea. Make a mini garden out of your basket. Something that will show off all year. Put some mini conifers or something evergreen for the backbone and use summer bedding that you can then later swap over for winter flowering plants. I did this pot with conifers and succulents and added some colorful stones and gravel as a mulch. It's not a great pic, sorry. I would line the basket with something as well to stop the compost leaking out the sides and also maybe set it up on some bricks or something rather than set it straight on the ground. Hope this helps you and please post some pics. It has given me an idea as well so Thanks for that!!

    Just a couple of thoughts.

Have you got, or perhaps get hold of, an old television table? They're not very big (dimension wise) and I got Mr. F'smum to saw the top 'shelf' off one I bought at a car boot, which left a 'platform' on casters. Once I'd put my ridiculously large container on it, it was almost invisible (being only a couple of inches high) and allowed me to move the container around a bit.

Second thought - what about popping in a few herbs?

Thank you Fidgetsmum for you Idea, I have solved the stand idea, something simple like a couple of bits of 3 x 3 fence post.
I might have given some more thought to it but I was eager to get on, and I have just come in for my lunch since I posted this morning.
The herb Idea was a good one but we have already got the herbs we require.
I will put a photograph on when I have finished it and it is growing well.
