In my experience Buddleia's like to be starved and not over watered. After all they can be seen growing out of walls and all sorts of strange places. :)

That's handy and good to know.

I have two of the 'Buzz' buddleias and I'm delighted with them. I bought them very late in the season last year (they were on special offer) and so they had a fairly miserable start as young plants, because they quickly had to cope with an arctic winter. This season, potted on and not given any special treatment other than regular watering and the occasional feed, they're both full of scented flowers. I'll post some pics later.

Not that it particularly matters, but I've yet to see a single butterfly on either plant despite the fact that we have lots fluttering around! In the past, I've found this with other 'irresistible' plants - unfortunately butterflies don't read the books or catalogue blurb and tend to have their own ideas about favourite plants.

    Missing Butterflies

Not had any on the Buddleias yet this year, a couple of cabbage whites in the back garden
Last year the Buddleias were covered with Painted Lady, and Red Admirals along with few cabbage whites
On reflection I am sure it was the end of August when they all appeared
I just hope it is so this year

Off on one of my tangents again, I have not seen any other butterflies other than those three for over 40 years in FIFE
