Astrantia

Does my Astrantia need much water,am not sure how to look after it?

 

Hi Layla. Astrantia are woodland plants, so they like it to be a bit damp and to have a bit of shade. Having said that mine are in a fairly sunny position and don't get any special treatment. Its very rare that I water the borders.

It will grow into a nice clump and then stop expanding. However if you divide it early in the season or in late summer (being a woodland plant) you can get 2, 3, or 4 plants from it - but let it grow to a decent size first.
