GW magazine did a good piece on making your own liquid fertiliser this month; aside from nettles and comfrey you can also use bracken, carrots (just the tops!), clover, groundsel, strawberry leaves, seaweed... There seemed a long list! Lots of bracken near me so I mat give it a whizz this year.

I have a large bucket near the greenhouse that I just chuck suitable leaves into - like Nettles, and also the leaves from Rhubarb when I cut it. I reckon that anything that has a good root structure will be pulling up nutrients from the subsoil and they'll wind up in the leaves. Dunno if there is any truth to that mind! But Comfrey definitely does that.

Putting the bindweed in there is fine too - providing it doesn't get into the watering can that you "dunk" in the bucket and back onto the plot.
