It's only MAY and I have a glut of Asparagus, Strawberries, Turnips (for the dogs). ( I can recommend Veitch Red Globe turnip) excellent germination and fast to mature.

Swedes and Beetroot starting to "bulb" up, all my Brassicas going loopy, Runner beans and peas started flowering and my onions doing "very nicely"

Greenhouse tomatoes past the 2 truss stage, outdoor ones just past 1st truss stage.

Herbs. Oregano? a summer herb? think again, mine lasted the winter and now gone mad, got parsley, thyme and sage running riot, mint too!

I didn't buy any seed potatoes this season, I planted some of our friends leftovers which are doing very well, and I really should have gone to specsavers last year cos I have companion Tattie plants all over my garden plot, as long as their not interfering, I'll leave them?

    I'm a happy bunny LOL

Sow little and often as soon as the first crops show two pairs of leaves sow the next batch, I sow every two weeks and have a balanced food source without any glut.

Lad, I don't want to appear rude but I do sow little and often, I didn't mention all the seedlings waiting to be planted out once my allotment becomes available in the next few weeks (I'm holding them back), And I didn't mention that my peppers have just started flowering too

Loopy Lou! one advantage of living London? :D

Sorry but you said you had a glut and your post was What am I doing wrong.

Perhaps I read it the wrong way:dbgrtmb:

I've got a glut because of this uncanny weather we've had here in the South East, virtually no rain since Mid February and well above average temperatures for this time of year (plus my expert gardening knowledge "cough, cough", LOL) :D

I was being pedantic with the thread heading Lad! I think this is a one in a lifetime season, and I for one will make the best of it, sorry if I mis-lead you, most on here know me and my onions :)

    Good news Vince:dbgrtmb:

Been helped along with the warmer temperatures in the city.

Us on the outside are still coping with low nightime temps and wind, so its slowed us down a bit.

Remind me of the Alotment state of play again, does this mean you have one sorted ?

Hey Ziggy, work resumes on the allotment site this week, just wish they had let me do it 'cos it would be fully planted up by now!

"Lad" has baffled me, wondering how I can sow "little and often" with Asparagus and Strawbs?

No matter, gonna make the best of what I have and what a lot I and my dogs have :D

    Hey Vince,

Thats great news :dbgrtmb: If you put a hi viz jacket on they wont notice you sneaking on site with some spuds:heehee:

"Often" might mean every 20 years, geologically speaking thats very often.

Sorry Lad but I did state I had a glut of asparagus, strawberries and Turnips? God, I wish the Asparagus and Strawbs would go on forever but alas not!

I'll freely admit I've sown more seed than needed, I always do, luckily this year most surplus hasn't ended up on the compost heap, I've found good homes for them!

I took the risk of planting out early (don't tell Kristen), but kept "backups" in the greenhouse(still there) in case of a late frost!

I've got my other half, my daughter and 12 dogs to feed besides myself, I've got to take risks , you win some, you lose some?

Ziggy, don't think the fido's will wait 20 years LOL
