I dug up a sucker of a staghorn sumac tree last autumn.

I planted it next to my hedge, and it list it's leaves. It has remained green though under the bark, right to the tip.

I've just checked and it us still green, but no leaves or growth yet. Any chance it will survive, you think ?

They seem to grow fine from the suckers. I have had a number. In fact the suckers are a complete and utter nuisance :(

I think killing it will prove harder than that.

    :D

Take no notice of us, VP. I remember that you thought long and hard before planting it.

Maybe it's just dropped them as a stress response to the hard winter and dry Spring. Give it a good drink and hopefully it will just spend a while having a sulk.

    I hope so!!!

I did think long and hard, I just hope it pulls through as they do provide a nice, frothy canopy without a big dense mass.
