a neighbour a few doors down have a rotty. of which keeps coming in my garden. but now as resorted to destroying my veg, where do i stand with this, as its too late for me to start any more. he's wrecked some cabbages, lettuces, peas, and some others. do i go and see the neighbour or should i just make a complaint.
i even have to be careful to let my own dogs out now. he keeps having numbvers 2's and i am sick of cleaning it up

Boebrummie, thank you for evening the score (see recent thread on misbehaving moggies).

Seriously, poor you. I think it would be worth trying to sort it out amicably with your neighbour first, depending on whether or not you think he is open to reason. Some people ... well, you just steer clear. If a quiet word doesn't work or you don't fancy your chances, I'm pretty sure the law is on your side, but you don't want to start a dispute if you can avoid it. Particularly with a rottweiler owner.

I like cats and dogs, by the way. I just don't always like their owners. :heehee:

I was under the impression that if you wanted to stop your neighbours dog roaming on to your property it was up to you to stop it.

Probably the law has changed on that now.

But I must say, its much easier to keep a dog out than the whole neighbourhoods cats.:WINK1:

Yes, Pete, but I doubt you could frighten off a Rottweiler with a water pistol. :heehee:

no its up to the owner to keep it under control otherwise its a charge for "being in charge of a dangerous out of control dog"

A dog sniffing around in someone else's garden cannot surely come across as a "dangerous dog out of control".
What is this stupid country coming to?

I should add though Boebrummie, I do sympathise with your situation, and hope you can get it sorted out with the neighbour concerned.

If not, I think I'd just put some wire fencing, if possible, to stop the dog coming through.

I've not come across a nasty one yet.
But I admit they look menacing.

You would need a machine gun to frighten off the cats around here.:D

when the dog in question has attacked my cats in my well secured garden, entered my home and attacked my dog ,gone for us and children 1 child i will add was 6weeks old, attacked other dogs and caused us thousands of £`s worth of damage stress and heartbreak for 2-3 years daily believe me its not just sniffing around, even the owner has threatened to kill me if i dared to touch his dog whilst its tearing my garden and cats to shreds, try having these sort of neighbours before you pass judgement

Hi Boebrummie. (1st) Try to have a polite chat with the dog owner, if possible.

If they do not Cooperate contact The Council Environmental Health Department .

There have been several instances of this problem in our area and if you report it the first question they will ask-- "Have you spoken to your neighbour about the problem" ????.

            Totally different situation.:)

I was not passing judgement, I was merely commenting on Boebrummie's situation, who's thread this happens to be.

Ruth, you really do need to report this to the police, not just because of the dogs behaviour but especially about the death threats.

Take out an interim injunction ordering them AND their dog to keep away from you, your pets and your property.:dbgrtmb:
