    Indeed, Shiney

What these people need is a decent plate of Butterscotch Angel Delight and Smash.

There used to be this dessert thingy in a can which had actual pieces of artificial fruit in it. Ah, memories.

Apparently Denmark has banned Marmite not because, as I have long suspected, it is actually made from waste sump oil, but because some clot or other went and added vitamins to it. I can see a marketing opportunity here. Something with no added vitamins, no minerals, no goodness, and no natural ingredients. Guaranteed e-coli free. Shredded cardboard, perhaps. But you'd have to be careful not to included recycled loo rolls.

I am always surprised how many people don't wash salad stuff or veg at all. mind I do have a sickness phobia so am extra cautious at avoiding possible problems. Brussel sprouts are a risk too bizarely, I didn't know that until I was pregnant with my eldest and read it then, people don't soak them to clean them properly apparently.

Although, as we were discussing earnestly over a plate of Instant Whip and Bombay Bad Boy Pot Noodle the other night, would washing with water be enough to kill the nastier bugs? Or would you need to get a taste for Sainsbury's aloe vera anti-bac cleanser on your salad?

yuck not sure hte antibac stuff would taste nice. water won't kill them but should wash them off, suppose boiling water kills them but don't fancy boiled lettuce or cucumber

:) Badly worded post on my part. Must be too much fresh, unprocessed food. Water obviously won't kill anything but I suppose what I mean is, does a vigorous wash in water remove the nasties so that you don't ingest them, or could enough of them hang on and survive to give you a problem?

And with regard to the cucumbers, was the e-coli on the surface of the fruit, or had it somehow found its way into the watery flesh?

I suppose technically the only way to kill them is to boil them as yes I guess bacteria and viruses can survive a wash.

I don't really fancy eating salad now, or veg. hmm perhaps I should stick to chocolate?

I was watching a news report on TV (What! Not out gardening :rolleyespink: :heehee:) and they said that they don't yet know what the cause is but have only seemed to be able to link it to cucumbers. Once they start guessing at other things as well then cardboard will be the only approved food.

This reminds me of the start of a cold war novel where the soviets contaminated random western grain supplies, no one knew what was safe to eat, panic buying ensued, the shops were empty, civil disorder broke out and a few days later soviet planes flew in and took America unchallenged.
