    Missed this one Spruce,

I'd leave them to get established if I were you.

You only really need to prune so you can get a hand in there to pick without getting stabbed.

:DOH:It'll dry out with this weather:dbgrtmb:

Very pleased with mine this year.

Grew it from seed picked from a wild one on Cadbury Castle Hillfort in 1993.

Cadbury Castle is the most probable site of Camelot, an Iron Age fort, re fortified just after the Romans left.

The berries were small and red.

Gave it a good dressing of Horse poo a few months back and netted it for the first time (was in Sis's garden & she didn't bother, just complained that the blackbird had all the fruit:DOH:)

Now covered in huge berries that are just turning from green to red:dbgrtmb:

It was bareroot, I planted it in a pot but with a saucepan thingie (I regret this now) and whenever it rains it fills right up to the rim of the saucepan and the plant just looks like 2 sticks which also look pretty dry despite the water.. I've given up :gaagh:

I've read that gooseberries don't need fertilising. I was wondering how this was possible though, especially when they're in a pot.
Also how long has it taken yours to fruit? Mine has none, but I think it's less than a year old, I hoped it just needed to mature for a year before it could.
