red flower/weed - any idea what?

found this in amongst the ludicrous number of weeds I was pulling out of the front garden so left it. any idea what it is?

oh and this looks lavender like but doesn't seem to smell, is growing like a weed and is about 3ft tall

Second one looks like Purple Toadflax,

1st one looked like a Scarlet Pimpernel, but the leaves behind it look like a Spurge

Better leave that one to Marley & Silver:runhills:

First flower looks like Chaenomeles ( Japanese Quince ) to me. Not sure about the second one, not convinced it`s Toadflax.

 

Escallonia only have 5 stamens, so think we can rule that out.

Very difficult to be sure without the leaves but it looks to me like Chaenomeles.

Purple flowers definitely Linaria purpurea. Common name Toadflax.

ooh thanks. I feel less thick now it obviously wasn't too straightforward. pleased I left it now, it is a pretty little flower just under the bay window.
