Good evening and welcome to the site.:dbgrtmb: The seed should be kept moist rather than wet. On dry days water it.

Hi GG11, I repaired several large patches on my lawn this year by reseeding it. When you say you "planted" the seed, how exactly did you "plant" it. I sowed mine with a light covering of JI No 2 and watered it every day during the "dry times". The water I used was either via a sprinkler or waste water from washing up etc. I found it took longer to germinate and grow than I thought/wanted it to:D

I afraid Herbi's rule on lawns wasn't very helpful to someone who's just sowed grass seed:heehee::loll:

Oh, and by the way, welcome to Gardeners Corner:thumbsup::D

When seeding a lawn, the most important tool is your rake. Firstly, you rake the soil to a fine tilth. you then evenly spread the seed, this is then, GENTLY raked into the soil. Finally you firm the soil down with the back of the rake. And ALWAYS keep the soil moist. At this time of year, germination should take about 7 days. Without watering it will take months.:dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb:
