Just found out today that the Queen is visiting my local town on 22nd June. I wonder if she is a fan of Harry Potter and is coming to see the Castle? I can't remember the Queen ever visiting Northumberland. I would like William and Kate to come, but we'll settle for the Queen. :)

I believe, by old rights, the queen owns everything anyway. She certainly owns this island.

I believe the ancient law has it that unless it is a necessity for the benefit of the nation, since the peasants revolt the monarch can no longer simply take someone's land. They can however buy it for a pound.

Does the queen own IoM? I thought it was not actually part of her domain, but by a quirk that lands ten thousands miles or more away are her domain, the IoM isn't. I think IoM's status within the British realm is that it is under 'British protectorate', meaning it it is independent, but by long standing treaty if it is attacked by a foreign force, HM Forces are obliged to defend it.

And the sturgeons, and I believe certain breeds of deer.

She is welcome to them. Mute swans are the most self centred, sobbiest creatures there are. Sturgeon has got to be one of the ugliest fish, and deer are among the most destructive creatures (on a parr with the furry demons most people refer to as rabbits).:)

Clueless, it is owned by the Queen, the island is overseen for her by a selected governor who lives on the island for the duration of his time in office. I think it's five years. We've just had a new governor move to the island.

Although the island has it's own government, it is not totally independent. Every couple of years this debate is raised here and I think it's only a matter of time before it happens, if she allows it, as it is pretty much self sufficient.
