durian fruit: how does it taste?

Has anybody tried the durian fruit - is it worth it?

 

I have heard it smells of Sewage.

But then again, we've all eaten cabbage and cauliflower even after smelling them cooking

 

I was told by someone in the indoor department at RBGE that it tastes foul no matter what attenborough says

 

Likewise John, I have seen them in Singapore and Malaysia but have never tried them, the smell is foul! although Jackfuit is tasty.

 

I was once tricked into eating some, after a colleague 'discovered' them while on holiday somewhere in south east asia.

It is the only time I have ever uncontrollably spat something out in the office, launching the foul smelling and even fouler tasting morsel right across the desk. It was so embarrassing.

What's worse, because I'd disturbed it by biting it before it unleashed its hell on my taste buds, you'd think from the resulting smell that there had been some sort of chemical warfare attack on our office. It was vile.

Incidentally, I heard there was a case somewhere in the world when a passenger jet was evacuated before take off due to the strong unusual smell which people thought may have been some sort of attack. It turned out that one of the passengers had been eating durian fruit prior to boarding the plane.

 

As I understand I am not missing much...

ziggy ahahah....I have seen some of these durian fruits in Chinatown which is an area in London with a lot of Chinese everything. I was tempted to buy them because they are so peculiar and huge...But then I thought I would investigate first. I went for some Chinese dumplings instead: WISE CHOICE.

How does one put a video on youtube. What kind of camera do you need?

 

I love Chinatown Mira, when my Sis had a flat in Tooting, I would spend a few days shopping there. Bit of a long way to go now so I just use the supermarkets in Aldershot when I visit Mum.

Have you seen the huge dried Jellyfish they sell there ?

Always wanted to buy one & put it in an inland swimming pool to re hydrate.

That would so confuse the owner

Good question.
I have over 100 vids on U tube.
I have used four different cameras so far.
I think any video camera will do the job, u tube will take a lot of different file types.
You need to join as usual for most sites and be lead by the upload pages.
Transfer your files from camera to PC is the first move.
Edit it if you have the software.
Then upload to U tube.
There is also loads of help available on the site.
Above is a very basic overview, but it really is quite simple.

I have tried it many many moons ago. Can't say I was impressed by the taste or smell.
I was young and I'd have tried it just as a dare !!!

Our ayah used to bring it back from her home every once in a while and I remember that my Mum used to hang it out in the balcony and try to dispose of it quite quickly.

 

I will certainly need some help! But not for a while - Thanks anyway.
