    Hi everyone :)
I think this is the right place to post this.
Just been out to check on my strawberry plants and noticed this strange looking insect on one of the leaves :S
I'm not sure what it is / if it's harmful to the plants??
    Could anyone shed any light?

Hi You are right its a baby lady bird and will eat all the aphids so be good to it , it will pupate on a leaf and out will pop a lady bird

It is a ladybird lavae but might be of the Harlequin variety going by the colouring of the body segments. It will probably eat aphids to grow then pupate and turn into an adult Harlequin Ladybird. The jury is still out on them as I have heard they will eat our own ladybirds which isn't a good thing but it is said that as there are thousands of them already living and breeding in this country then it is too late to now try and stop their spread so it is up to you if it is a Harelquin whether it lives or gets terminated.:)

Ah wow, I never would have guessed that it was a ladybird! I moved it away from the strawberries in the mean time so it's somewhere in the garden still. Thanks for the replies :)
