I have petunias in boxes in my front garden (Afternoon sun) both pictures show the results from 5 small plants that have really grown bushy and taken off in multi purpose compost...fed just once a couple of weeks back...they were planted out mid May.
Loads of leaf growth but shouldn't they be a mass of flowers by now? Is it the colder start to the year or have I done something to slow them down?

They look in the pink of health to me and they are covered in flower buds! So you only have to wait. My petunias have some flowers but they are much smaller plants than yours- in the long run I think yours will have more staying power as they will have developed good root systems before getting going.

Ta for that..I was just wondering if by feeding I'd over promoted the leaf growth rather than flowers.

your petunias look fine, just like mine. They will start flowering very soon . I think the cold nights we have had for the past few weeks is holding them back. Petunias like a lot of feed so you can feed at least once a week. Keep dead heading them as the flowers die off , and cut off the over long stems, every now and then , to stop them getting to leggy.

    Hi raebhoop.

Whatever you're doing, keep on doing it, because they look perfect, to my eyes.

    Cheers...Freddy.

Dont Worry Raebhoop, your Petunias look in good healthy shape .
All they require now is some heat to open them up. i have been growing Petunias every year for the past 6 years. a little tip ,do not cram too many in the one spot . i have been planting one Petunia plant in the centre of 888300 pots. this gives the one plant plenty of room to grow and it is not fighting for space. the plant will grow into the shape of the pot my pots are all round and when they grow it looks like a round posy. also water or feed from the side of the Petunia not directly on top of the plant ..

Thanks for that...but there's only five plants in each pic...in the second pic that's nearly 3'x2' so not exactly overplanted. :) I cut them back early on, that made them grow bushy.

    Thanks all for your comments.
