Just been out and picked our first batch of raspberries before they fell off....

Following the strawberries from yesterday I will definitely have to get some cream from the shops today :D

Looking good! My raspberry canes all bit the dust for some reason so I'm only left with loganberries

mmmm raspberries, I don't know about other gardeners but I've had a bumper crop this year and it hasn't stopped yet! Usually my raspberry crop last 2 to 3 weeks of constant picking but this year we are in our 4th week and my summer fruiting canes (not sure what variety as they originally came from poundland several years ago) have got a second batch of flowers and fruit coming from shoots that have grown from the base of the first fruiting shoots :) I am one happy raspberry muncher (plus lots in the freezer and several pounds of jam made by my mother)

Ours have finished fruiting and I've pruned away the canes that carried the fruit to make way for the new growth which is already 4-5ft tall and been tied to wires.

As you say we also had a bumper crop, lasting a good 4 weeks+ and some of the biggest raspberries I've seen - like strawberries some of 'em :D :thumb:

I think it's been a particularly good year for raspberries but mine have all but finished now. I adore raspberries, preferring them to strawberries, but even I've had enough what with raspberry ice-cream, raspberry sorbet, raspberry jam, raspberry jelly, raspberry sauce, raspberries steeping in gin and vodka not to mention those used in flans, as fresh fruit cake fillings and eaten with cream. The few 'stragglers' which remain however, still provide a tasty breakfast mouthful as I take a morning 'constitutional' around the garden. :)
