Hi I'm new here and hope this is the right place to post my question.

My Granddad has grown 6 tomato plants from seed for me and some of them have developed some white / cream spots and we're not sure what they are. It is the 3 Gardeners Delight variety that have the problem, the 2 Shirley and 1 Beef Tomato do not have the problem. He grows a lot of tomatoes for various people and some have this problem and some do not. He hasn't got the problem himself and so far hasn't being to see the problem but he was unable to identify it from a description over the phone.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance :-)

Thanks for your reply :-) We've not started feeding them yet because my Granddad says to wait until the first trusses appear as there should be enough nutrients in the compost to see the plants through until then. Perhaps that's the answer then - feed them a bit earlier this year! The concern was that it was a disease - hopefully it is just the deficiency :-)

Oh right, I think I might have some Epsom Salts! How much should you give them? Just the once or for a few days? Thanks for the advice :-)

I had a similar problem last year, asked the same question and Alice was kind enough to give me this reply: ' ... dissolve 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts in a pint of water. Spray the tomatoes every day for a week. Or you can dissolve some in a watering can and water it in,' and it worked a treat.
