I wonder if the forum or even the Internet will still be around when the capsule is removed.

I collect the small stainless steel plaque for it tomorrow. :)

I'll also be glad when the the work is done, and the yellow toy can go :)

For various reasons, the finishing of the wall has stalled for a few weeks. The young daughter of the next door neighbour, laid out the stone for the pathway during the week, so I put them in place this morning whilst dodging the rain showers. The pathway is intentionally short, as I didn't want it to link up to the existing pathway. Had I done so, it would have spoilt the flow and effect of the main pathway. The steps etc were never intended as a main access route, just a short cut.

In respect of planting. That sadly is going to take time. The area is so big and funds are so little! My aim with the whole area is fill it with Rhododendrons and Azaleas. It just may take a few Birthdays and Xmas presents to get there.

      Eddie,
It's coming on really well, you've worked hard on it. Can't wait to see the pics when you've finished. :dbgrtmb:

Been watching your thread .. Very nice and I like the time capsule, my younger son and I put one in 25 yrs ago and his youngest daughter and I reclaimed it last year when I took the wall and pillars down .We all had a good laugh ..

You should be grateful that you can't. I hate laying bricks! :(

Here is a not so exciting update.

The land drain behind the wall is now pretty much finished. I just need to wrap it over and back fill with top soil that I don't have!

On the plus side, I now have a non compressible material against the back of the wall, and 2 cubic less soil to buy.

I have now started phase two.. The Outhouse!

There isn't really that much to say about the project to date, but I have cleared the site, dug and concreted the footings, laid the soil pipe, cleared the oversite, laid three rows of bricks up to concrete level, and finally concreted the footings. Time permitting, I'm hoping to get the rest of the brickwork completed this weekend.

Sadly because of existing services, I had to hand dig the site.

Whilst moving what I had dug out by hand, the neighbours daughter came round, and wanted to learn to use the digger. What's another hour in the grand scheme of things :)

          Footings concreted.

          And now up to date.

I've dug footings before for extensions, not the best thing in the world to be doing! But when it's your own house, I'm sure it feels a lot better and more rewarding.

I'd like it more if I was being paid for it. :)
