Hello, Some of my tomato plants leaves have yellow patches.

Could this be a magnesium deficiency?

    Thankyou

Yes I'd say it is magnesium deficiency.

This often happens just when you start feeding tomatoes especially if they are in gro-bags or containers. It is easily treated by spraying with Epsom Salts (ask for Magnesium Sulphate at the chemists - this is the cheapest way to buy it). Dissolve ½ oz in a pint of water (20g/litre) and apply as a foliar spray each day for a week.

You'll be surprised how quickly the plant recovers

I'll second JWK. It looks like the early stage of magnesium deficiency. Spray with epsom salts as above and the recovery is instant.

UPDATE: It looks like it has cured the problem! Now just need more sun and heat. I don't think this years crop is going to be anything like last years crop. I feel they are slow this year. Not very many toms.

        Thankyou

Mrs Scrungee was questioned and had to sign the Poisons Register when she last got some from the chemists (a hen was in need of a laxative) as junkies have some sort of use for it.

Anybody else had this problem?, or perhaps Mrs Scrungee looks more dodgy than the rest of you (she get's the same problem when buying surgical spirit for scaly leg mite for the same reasons).

I'm taken aback a bit by Mr Scrungee having to sign the Poison register at the Chemists. I didn't think it was a listed "poison", somebody being a bit "jobsworth" and OTT????

This must be a new thing Scrungee, I am a bit surprised since I thought the GCs sold it straight off the shelves.

PS: Mrs Scrungee can borrow my wig which I've been told makes me look like Nigella Lawson, now no-one would question her shurey :)
