I think it was last year that one of our Cats caught a Mole, we thought it was a fluke at the time....until 5am this morning that is.

I was awakened by the familiar meoows from our intrepid hunter signifying he had brought something home again, and was shocked to see a Mole trying to dig down through our Hall carpet, but not for long as Floyd grabbed his catch and skedaddled out of the backdoor with it.

I followed and found him watching the Mole digging into one of our flowerbeds...it was promptly removed and dealt with by me.

Anyone else here have a Mole catching Cat?

    Steve...:)

Yes Steve. I used to have a cat who brought moles as pressies nearly every day. Fortunately she despatched them before bringing them to the doorstep.

I'd like to know where u got your cat from !!! Ours has sat nonchalantly watching a rat helping himself from his cat food bowl - thats in a corner of our front room !!!!! The cat deems anything smaller than a rabbit as not worthy of his attention ... and that needs to be an adult rabbit , the wee baby bunny that is eating away my oxalis seems to be his close personal friend !!! : )

I know it's not what you're asking Wozwoz, but I'll tell you where I got my cat from.
I got her from a farm (relative of mine). She was a 5 week old kitten, unable to lap properly, lying dying on the doorstep - something had happened to her mother - disappeared.
I couldn't step over that kitten and leave her there so I said I would take her for a few weeks and take her back when she could look after herself.
I still had her 20 years later when she died.
She was a great vermin hunter and a lovely pet.
      I treasure her memory.

Well, YES, I have catS. They catch/chase moles, chipmunks, mice, chase squirrels, and bunnies. So my gardens and house are free from such items. Hate squirrels, they have cost us money by eating the brake lines of our trucks, thank goodness our catS keep them up the tree. Just today one of our catS was seen with a mouse dangling from his mouth. Doing their job. YEP.
One day I saw one of my best hunters two houses up, in the field. Stopped by the neighbor in front of the field to tell them, that was my cat not to worry he will come home he is only catching field mice. They said he is welcome at anytime. All my catS are fixed and so precious.
I would agree moles are sweet. Mostly I see the catS with mice. So our moles must be smart to stay out of site.

Sadly, like wozwoz's cat, ours are all bravado and stalking, but couldn't catch a cold. There is a rat ( or several ) living under the pavers in our back garden, the cats sit looking at the hole but that's about as far as it gets. Our old cat Oliver, now sadly departed, would hunt anything though.

On the one hand I'm glad in a way as the songbirds get a chance now!

My cat Monster hunts frogs......... He doesn't just catch them if he sees them, he goes looking for them!!! It makes me sooooo mad!!! I have rescued some from his deadly clutches and put them safely in the pond out of reach but now if he catches one hes off with it over the fence. I wish I could cure him of this obsession but short of keeping him locked in the house where he will wreck the place trying to get out I don't know what I can do!!! :dunno:

I used to have a labrador collie cross and she in her younger days would put her ears to the mole hill and listen - thankfully only caught one once as far as i am aware :OUCH:, which we managed to save. Phew!
