It's June and I've just identified rust (yellowing tops and edges on blades of grass) on my lawn. It's an east facing garden and the areas that receive the least sunshine seem to be the least affected.

I'm unsure what to do to treat it, without spreading it further.
I thought of scarifying the lawn, cutting it and then feeding it with some nitrogen based fertilizer. Would that work?

    Cheers.

    Thank you.
Nothing. The turf was laid 14 months ago and I've simply cut it.

I asked because I`ve never heard of grass suffering from rust. Can you be a bit more descriptive? Even better if you can post some pics.

    Dai,

    Here are some images.
I've been doing some further reading and I think I've answered my own question(!). It's going to be impossible not to reduce the chances of spreading the fungi spores as I only have a hover mower. As the shaded areas get little sun the turf is still moist so I'm guessing the main problem is due to the dry weather.
I'm going to water it and give it a feed. It looks like this will maintain the grass which will be able to cope with the rust (non-lethal) and wait for the winter to kill it off. Back Lawn Rust.jpg Rust blades.jpg

May I have a pic of the lawn as a whole rather than specifics?:dbgrtmb:
