    Hi Everyone
Has anyone else noticed HUGE numbers of greenfly this year? Generally I have the usual problems with greenfly but this year I just can't keep up with the infestation! I'm using washing up liquid in water to spray which usually works a treat but I'm seriously considering going chemical warhead on their asses before my plants dissapear for ever!

Yep I hear ya BG, And thanks for the tip on washing up liquid spray, remember my mum doing that when I were a lass but wasn't sure what it was for so now will have a go. I have noticed loads of little green eggs/bugs on the underside of my salad leaves (pesky:parsnip: beggars) I haven't sprayed them with anything just make sure I really wash them well before eating.

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PEEPS
    :help:

Pesky little beggars indeed GCQ! Sounds like you have greenfly, the washing up liquid spray should rid you of them and its good because it doesn't kill other 'friendly' insects like ladybirds who feed on greenfly. Also it doesn't have half as many chemical 'nasties' in as insect sprays, which kill everything in sight!:OUCH:
Good luck, enjoy the sunshine :sunny:

I just crush them on the stem with my fingers, then wipe the green gore off my fingers. Messy, but extremely satisfying! And totally organic. And very time-saving, no more spraying.

I have noticed fewer than usual so far, and no blackfly.

But it does say "amongst other things, so there is something in there they are not telling about, because they don't want us to know.

      Probably makes men grow boobies.:runhills:

Earlier this year we had so many ladybirds that I was wondering whether the entire population of this country had migrated to our patch; as a result there wasn't a greenfly to be seen, now however the ladybirds seem to have packed their bags and guess what's happened?, yep you guessed the little green blighters are back with a vengance.

There on everything, toms, lettuce, clematis, aquilegia etc...at the moment I've suffered no bad damage though as I check everything daily and squish 'em; messy but they don't come back.....

Next enemy those pesky black ants that have set up home in some of my pots.....:gaagh:

I believe they "harvest" them for honeydew or something along those lines; I think the ants sometimes move greenfly from one plant to another to accumulate them in one area to make the most of the sweet excretion from the aphids!!!
