what is this in my lawn?

Can someone please identify what this is is in my lawn and the best remedy to remove?

Suprisingly Stig, it's grass. Best way to remove it is to mow. Your lawn looks very healthy BTW.

Thanks for the reply boghopper, i never knew grass grew like that also as it seems to have thicker 'stems'. I thought grass only grew in blades. My grass is looking much healthier than it was however my large raised lawn (13m x 13m) looks pretty terrible. some parts grow well like the pic above but lots dont seem to grow at all, the grass is a more yellow colour and is about an inch long maximum. trying to use evergreen 4 in 1 complete to see if that helps and also miracle grow liquid lawn feed. do you think that will help? Soil is quite clay heavy too.

 

I think all lawns have been suffering in this uneven weather Stig. I reckon you're doing all the right things. Probably best not to water or feed when the sun is at it's hottest. Best time is first thing or in the evening. I'm sure others will have suggestions too.
