My rear garden, once cut, produces a massive amount of white daisy type flowers as it re-grows.
what is the best treatment to rid the lawn of these.
    are they actually weeds ?
    i would appreciate some advice

Pictures are a big help, though it's probably just daisies in your lawn, and because you've taken the tops off, they grow to flower again. Depends on your point of view whether you see them as a weed or not.

I wonder if they are clover heads?

Lawn daises prefer short grass so leaving it longer would help. Personally I love lawns covered in daisies and speedwell. Saw one with violas (Johnny jump-ups or heartsease) last spring.
