    An elderly Lady who lives in a lower house with 3 small windows has a window cleaner. he fills his bucket with hot water from her tap.he uses her washing up liquid.
    he also uses her step ladders. he informed the lady he was putting up his prices by
    50%. :scratch: when the lady asked him why,he replied , " WELL I HAVE OVERHEADS YOU KNOW " :skp: needless to say he has one mug less on his list :wink: .
    any other nominations for the prize of Biggest Chancers. :wink: music.

    lol overheads, there cant be many jobs with less overheads, and he hasnt even got a ladder priceless. Although you did say he has his own bucket, perhaps there is shortage.

    Fascinating stuff Music.
    My window cleaner uses cold water and brings all his stuff with him.
    I live in a single storey cottage so nothing is difficult but he cleans 6 windows and 14 in the conservatory.
    For that he charges me £10.
    Bargain I think.

    It sounds like he was trying to take her to the cleaners :hehe: - unless he was putting his price up from £1 to £1.50

    We are like Alice and are single storey. Our window cleaner cleans 9 large, 20 medium and 9 small panes of glass plus 4 full length french doors, wipes down all the windowsills and charges £15. He works hard in all weathers. I wouldn't want to be putting my hands into cold water in freezing conditions :(. Once a year he charges £25 to clean out our gutters.

    Also a bargain.

    What's your window cleaner like?

    I use a small amount of washing up liquid in hot water to clean my windows and then hot plain water to give them a rinse.When they are dry I then use Mr Muscle glass and window cleaner with added vinegar and then use a clean ecloth to give the glass a buff if they still look smeary.Mr Kandy does the upstairs outside for me as I get height frightbut i do all the inside ones downstairs and upstairs:D

    Don't have the luxury of having my windows cleaned,waiting until I am retired for that event{if we can afford it by then:hehe:}

    Our window cleaner cleans;

    1 bay window on the ground floor.
    Window in the front door.
    Downstairs cupboard window.
    2 Kitchen windows.
    Window in the kitchen door.
    Double full length french windows and full length side windows, rear of the house.
    1 Bay bedroom window first floor.
    1 Bedroom window first floor.
    Hall window first floor.

    We don't have any first floor windows at the back of the house cleaned as I don't want him walking on the flat roof.

    For this he charges £3. We make him a cup of tea and I let him "have a go" of one of my jukeboxes when he asks.

    Hi Alice. yes a bargain. in my area they have a standard minimum charge of £4 .that could be for a pensioner's one person house with say 3-4
    small windows :(. what angers me is, they have huge fancy vans/uniforms/advertising slogans and wash windows when it is raining :mad::mad: music .

    Hi music,

    We live in a bungalow so he only needs a step ladder for the gutters. He is a one man band, no fancy painting on his van and the few times he is not too well his wife comes out with him to help. She also comes out to help him catch up if he gets too far behind because of bad weather.

    We live in a one floor house, most of the windows are reached from the ground and the inside except for the garden room windows up in the peaks, that takes a tall tall ladder. But we wash our own windows.

    some years ago the window cleaners had four pieces of equipment .
    they had (1) water in a bucket.(2) a damp scrim cloth.( 3) a dry scrim cloth.(4) a chamois leather.
    now they have a wet cloth and a squeegee:skp: which will in general leave a film of dirt on the glass and the first drop of rain you get the windows get dirty premature :(.

    ITS CALLED PROGRESS:skp: music.
