Hi out there, can anyone identify this weed and advise how to get rid of it? It's a spiky one with thick slimey white roots and very fast growing. It's coming up thro' my lawn and also thro' the stoned edging (even tho' I laid a membrane down first).
I'm new to gardening and could do with a bit of help.
    Kind regards,

Looks like creeping thisle to me. Spreads by long roots, like bindweed - but does respond to glyphosphate.

It cant stand regular mowing, so usually is only a problem in new lawns.
