    Hi All.
Has anyone had a go at growing violas from seed in the greenhouse?.If so when is the best time to start seeds of that will be ready for a autumn spring display.
Any preference for planting medium? Also best conditions,I do have a electric propagator so I would of thought this would be ideal?
    Thank you

    .

    Hi!

Unless you have saved your own seed or got it free it is better to buy plugs from Jersey Plants, as you will have more chance of them flowering at the proper time than self sown.

Same goes for F1 pansies, the plugs are actually cheaper than seed as the seed usually works out at 12p per seed and not all germinate as against about 9p per plug!

By all means sow your own seed outside now, for next years flowering!

    Cheers!
