I know its not the time of year to do this, but .....

I have some raspberry plants that I've had to remove from the rows where I volunteer, they were over growing.
During the weeding process, and as carefully as I dare, I removed them from in between the rows, it felt a crime to ditch them, so I was wondering .....

Is it possible to transplant them into my own garden with out harming them ?

I'm not expecting fruit from them this year, but it would be nice to put them in place for next summer, is it a waste of time ?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Great site btw. :love30:

I posted something similar last month, not knowing how they'd react to being moved at 'the wrong time of year'

I didn't get any response, but I now know the answer - 99% of them survived, although they may not bear fruit this year.

Do it. Mine were transplanted into ex-Morrisons flower buckets @ approx 15p each with a hole drilled through the base (re-usable) and filled with garden soil so it's cost me nothing to try it.

P.S. Mine were autumn fruiting raspberries and I will move them out of the shade, but keep them watered and transfer to a permanent bed at the 'normal' planting time.

All planted up now, ignore the photo, it doesn't show the raspberries after the chop.

        Fingers crossed.

        Many thanks for help. :)

Thanks guys, been trying to post up a pic to show you, doesn't seem to be working for me.

All trimmed back to 9", most seem to be settling in okay so far.

        Thanks again :)

sorry Bimble, didn't notice the post had been moderated, the anti spam thinger doesn't like low number posts with photos or attachments, it should sort itself out as your post go up but if it happens again just give me or the other mods a pm:dbgrtmb:
