Thanks again John. I'm not likely to have a big turnover as I have to take my grass cuttings to the tip, I get so many. One cut on back and front lawns will produce enough to fill up to eight of the larger dustbin bags. They will be re-cycled from there for compost making. Ironic really!

I'll let you all know what I decide on. :)

The ones delivered to me "council" come in flat packs build up to hexagonal bin
six panels 3'x3' and two additional panels make a central hinged lid

So it would have been a large flat pack rather than a Huge Dalek :heehee:

Ahhh, I had visions of you stuffing a great big dalek in the car and your Mrs sitting on the roof rack :)

John I think Jack would be 'stuffing' it into a coach. I'm sure he said it was a coach trip he was going on. :)

Hi all, thanks for your advice. Composter bought and duly installed. I bought the 330 litre one from Eden Park, Johns assistance appreciated on that score. :dbgrtmb: It's made by Blackwall.

Jack you won't have to lug it with you now! :)

Now I have to filll it. Below, the picture for your perusal. Boring isn't it.

Now, I should have thought about this before I bought it! Yes, the composter itself works fine, my problem is keeping it where it should stand, I'd forgotten about the winds here on the island, oops! At the moment it is being held down by two large rocks even though it's fairly sheltered from the wind.

I think I will have to invest in a composter with a bit more weight, wood probably.

Four tent pegs, set at an angle of 60* should do it

Wouldn't it stay down if you filled it?

Not suitable for Sheal, I know, but for mainland peeps I have recently bought 3 big composters on ebay, all local, for less than £5 each. I do love ebay!

I don't get a lot of waste from my garden as I only have one bed at the moment and don't grow veg's apart from salad stuff, so it will take me a while to fill it, even with household bits.

But even if it was pretty full I would still have to anchor it. Jacks idea might help, thanks Jack. :)

You may have to drill holes/hot poker in the side rather than force the tent peg, to prevent shattering the plastic

I'm a fan of the blackwall composter, easy enough to use. A question how do you I go about receiving an order of Tiger worms at work?? :o Got a feeling I'm going to be looked at with puzzled grins, and talked about, maybe even categorised as a weirdo!

Anyway, I use this blackwall compost bin. Works great, although there might be better prices elsewhere as I got mine off ebay.

              :-)
