    Good luck with this Bilbo,

I agree with Roslyn Margaret- this is church fair time of year. Drop emails to all the local churches and mosques and ask when their fetes are.

Where I live, if you pay £10-15 in contribution to the church, you get to keep your profits.
Or if you have a job lot to get rid off, consider hiring a church hall.
Im in London and its £20 per hour.

I've found eBay buyers to be more stingey than they used to be. I used to sell seeds that I collected that I had too many of on there, but I think there isn't money in it anymore.

Oh i had no idea it was so difficult, such a shame because if they made it easier and cheaper a lot more people would try it and everyone would be able to have more fresh home grown produce, the world has gone mad !!!!
      Thanks for the info.

      Hi Roslyn Margaret :sunny:
it is actually free to sell something if you start your listing from .99p (I don't know if you pay for the pictures though).

As for natural process, expectations have raised, scams and refunds have raised and just the best sellers "survive".

For my personal use and my present requirements ebay remains fun to access and use. Certainly for the seeds, because I see a lot of sense in selling seeds there.

But I have promised to myself that I will not buy any more seeds if I don't use those that have been lying down in the box for, now, one or two years.
I have resisted the temptation so far, let's hope for some longer...

How many seeds do you get in a packet? Do you know how to take cuttings from shrubs? As long as you can id them you could have enough plants by this time next year to make a small nursery work. Biennials and Perrenials sown now would be ready, in vast numbers, for sale next spring.

Hi dai......how long's a piece of string?, with stuff like perennials and biennials I often sow the entire packet, especially if there's only 10-20 seeds in it.

I do take cuttings from shrubs on and off, usually when I see something I like I'll ask the owner for permission to take a few cuttings; I currently have variegated philadelphus, ballerina rose, herbaceous clematis and a couple of actinidia kolomikta rooted and growing on :thumb:

I don't think my back garden could hold much more stock; the area surounding our veg patch is now like a mini nursery (very mini, it's only about 6m x 8m) :D, I'm considering putting a sign on the fence around it - "Bilbo Nursery - Welcome" :heehee:

I think ultimately I'm going to have enough plants to do a couple of decent stalls at the church or on the 'flea' market....and continue selling on Ebay as well; like I said this isn't to try and make a living, the initial idea being just to keep a pot topped up so to speak for any garden related expenses.

Many thanks for your advice and interest dai and everyone else too :thankyou:

I was shopping for some alstroemerias on eBay and noticed those sometimes fetch near nursery prices. I don't think it would be viable growing them from seed as the germination rate is unreliable and also they aren't the cheapest seed I don't think. But if you grow some for yourself, they'll eventually spread and you'll have to divide them, so at that point why not top up the piggy bank!

Many things you can do for yourself , but that is why God has created shops, so that when you want something and you want it now you go there and buy it.

          This is the right place:

Bilbo, while I was away I got texts from a friend who decided to do another containers and tubs session in his garden.

He had 16 people turn up! Went really well! Flogged lots of cuttings too.

Not sure but i think i may have purchased seeds from you on Ebay :).
Im playing with the idea of listing some of my seeds (taken from my plants). Im also taking cuttings and growing on excess plants when i tried to sell plants before on Ebay they didnt sell. Luckly for me my aunt runs a florest and will sell other bits and bats with a 10% cut, I also know someone in a local shop who sells bedding plants (along with other plants now and then) outside so next spring i hope to have plenty to sell to him also :).
It may be worth you aproching local shops if they do the same they may be willing to buy some of your stock.

(sorry about my spelling tut tut)
