    Well I've been experimenting with more supermarket produce for fun :D;

    About 3 weeks ago I sowed an apricot seed and that has just germinated, I completely went against the usual advice for peaches, necterines, apricots which is usually something along the lines of keep the stone in the fridge for 4-6 months and then soak for 48 hours before sowing, I just cracked the stone open, soaked the seed foran hour or two and sowed it, put it on a windowsill and up its popped; I've done this in the past with peaches and had the same results :thumb:

    I also sowed some passion fruit seeds about 2 weeks ago and they have ALL germinated at the same time :thumb:

    I have several lovely 4-5" lychee seedlings growing well.

    For the first time I've got an avacado stone to shoot too and I've also got another mango seed germinating.

    Almost forgot I've got lemons, oranges and grapefruit germinating too :thumb:

    All good fun.....:dancy: :dbgrtmb:

      Hi Roslyn, they have all been grown and germinated on a normal window sill, apart from the Lychee stones which were put in sealed bags of damp vermiculite and placed in a warm cupboard we have near the water boiler; they then germintaed within 3 days!!! and then I potted them up and moved them to the window sill. This is the same method that I used for growing Date stones too earlier this year, they are now about 10" tall and developing their second leaves :thumb:

      I also have some nice little pomigranate seedlings :thumbsup:

      Hi again; I just used normal potting compost to get them started or for the orange/lemon/grapefruit/pomigranate seeds I started some in those little coir plugs that expand when you put warm water on them.

      When potting up to 3 or 4" pots the oranges, lemons and grapefruits were then put in citrus compost, everything else just normal potting compost with a little vermiculite mixed in :thumb:

      Just noticed 2 more apricots coming through and my ginger root is shooting too :yess: :thumbsup:
