Well, lots of help from wife, daughter and boy friend and dispite the rain we finished plot 1 of 3.
Took 1 ton of top soil and equal volume of used mushroom compost ( hope this isn't to rich).
    what to grow?
    thought

    *Radish
    *lettuce
    *spring onion
*carrots (might fork in the rich soil)
*late runner beans (never tried this late but read on internet that
    it can be done)
*spring cabbage (soil might be to loose)
*new potatoes for Christmas (internet again)

    What do you think??

    Well done Sargent:dbgrtmb:

You're right about the carrots, leave them till next season.

Runners will go upto the frosts so that gives you 2& a half 3 months so might be worth a shot.

Peas, Peas, Pak Choi, Mizuna, Lettuce, Spuds, Beetroot & Mustard Greens all worth a shot.

I plant the stuff I like and is expensive in the shops (so thats everything then :heehee:). Ziggy has it in a nutshell give it a shot but I would get on with it. Buying young plants rather than seeds will give you a leg up.

Spring cabbage and kale will be very rewarding, sown now and harvested late winter/early spring.

I wouldn't bother with christmas potatoes, I just don't see the point of trying to get 'new' potatoes on the christmas dinner table. They will take up quite a lot of plot space too.

I'd sow peas instead of runner bean plants, you will get a good crop from them - whereas with r. beans I think it's getting too late.
