I'm definitely no expert on ID's Sheal, but I think it might be a Lewisia Cotyledon:D:scratch:

A very lucky flashback of memory, Shiney, as my wife and I bought some from the local Nursery many years ago when we were first into gardening. We tried, and failed, to grow them on.:wallbang::D If I remember rightly they like being grown sideways in crevices, as that stops the centers from rotting because of rain collection.:D I might try again for old times sake!!

Thanks Armandii, it's a bit of a mouthful to pronounce. I've written it down and will go hunting for it this weekend.

You say it likes to grow sideways, perfect, I have a dry stone wall in my garden that's holding back a soil bank. :dbgrtmb:

You're welcome, Sheal. As I said seeing the picture brought back old and happy memories, even if we had no success with it. A stone wall sounds like the ideal thing for it. It might pay to do a bit of research to ensure success, but then, knowing you, you'll be doing that anyway.:D

I love lewisias, but like Armandii have had no success when I've tried to grow them. Not only do they not like the rain, they must have well drained soil which is acid to neutral.

I've got a 50-50 chance then Lorna. I've got a sandy well drained soil and the rain to go with it. :)
