Hi Duffy, it could well be, unfortunately, Clematis Wilt. Is the Clematis in the ground or in a pot? How long ago did you prune it, as Wilt enters a plant through cuts and wounds, and also from the use of unclean pruning tools.:what::(:cry3: To deal with Clematis Wilt the plant has to be cut right down to the ground and then, hopefully, it will throw up new shoots from underneath the soil.

Thanks for that I have cut it back to below ground level, see what happens, might have been damage as the stems weren't supported.

It`s not wilt, it`s a combination of clematis black spot and, possibly, slug or caterpillar damage.

Even better news, Duffy. Dai is very knowledgeable and I would go with his diagnosis, the good thing about it is that since you've carried out anti wilt action the clematis should react favourably to it and start afresh.

With wilt every part of the plant tends to go dark brown very quickly, it doesn`t happen leaf by leaf.
