hi all, just wanting to see if you guys have and ideas on a lawn boarder edge.
i want to contain all grass in so fences are out the question.
i am currently thinking .... railway sleepers cut in half width ways.
i want something different as i don't want to use the log roll or fence that everyone seems to use.
i fancied the bamboo fencing but at £10 per 1.2 meter i thought i might as well get sleepers but obviously the sleeper option is a hell of a lot of work so i just wondered if any of you guys had any other ideas i might not have came across ? if so leave a msg and a thank you in advance.

Sorry, I can't help you with this but someone else will come up with ideas

Why not just cut a nice sharp edge to the lawn?

I do it and all it needs is the edge trimmed regularly - each time I mow :dbgrtmb:

What about making a small picket fence, or pieces of 'rough cut' thin slate overlapped and pushed into the ground. It would have a slight rustic look to it. :)

The picture shows my two tier bed in progress, with railway sleepers to give you an idea on how they would look. The only drawback with these, you can't create curves.

I saw a programme where Alan Titchmarsh used Aluminium strips as an edger. It was also flexible to follow the shape of the Lawn.
He positioned it just below the grass layer to allow easy cutting and supported it with pegs into the border.
If you set the level above the grass level, as you seem to indicate, you would probably need a strimmer to tidy the edge
