    Hi all

Is it possible to grow potatoes (in bags) in a heated greenhouse during Autumn and Winter?

I've noticed suppliers are pushing 'Christmas seed potatoes' at the moment and was thinking of giving it a go.

I will have room for about 3 -4 bags so would be looking to plant successionally throughout August/September.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Not being a spud man myself I ain't gonna be put on the line here but I remember someone telling me years ago how he grew 'pink fir apples' out of season in a cool greenhouse so it should be possible. Getting it right is going to be a bit hit and miss though.
Wish you luck though... got to be worth a try.

It is possible to grow spuds for Christmas, if Kristen was around he would tell you how. Personally I don't see the point, it's a lot of effort just to get a few new potatoes in december and I'd rather have roasties with my turkey :)

Decided I'll give it a go. Better to have something growing in the greenhouse then have it standing around doing nothing :-)

Unless anyone can suggest anything else to grow in it during the winter?? (My first Autumn/Winter with a greenhouse so you can imagine my enthusiasm for keeping it 'working'
